Just three weeks before its release, Sony Pictures unveiled the second trailer for their upcoming movie based on the highly successful “Gran Turismo” video game franchise from PlayStation. The film is directed by Neill Blomkamp, known for his work in movies like “District 9” and “Elysium.” The movie takes the form of an aspirational racing drama, drawing inspiration from the true story of Jann Mardenborough, a talented player who won various competitions and eventually became a professional race car driver in real life.

Gran Turismo Movie Trailer 2:
The trailers depict Jann having arguments with his father about pursuing a career as a racing driver until he discovers the GT Academy competition. Harbour’s character is doubtful about turning gamers into elite athletes but sees potential in Jann.
More than focusing on the plot, the trailers offer a taste of the adrenaline-pumping action, specifically designed to capture the excitement of the game. Director Blomkamp explained that they used FPV drones with IMAX sensor-approved cameras to create captivating visuals for the large cinema screen. To capture the driver’s point of view (cockpit view), the stunt driver would lie back, allowing them to mount a camera where his head would be. They also included references to the game in clever ways.
Sony shared the first snippets of footage at their CES press conference on January 4. The clip not only featured shots from the movie but also offered a glimpse behind-the-scenes.

Gran Turismo Movie Release Date:
The Gran Turismo movie is set to release on August 11, 2023. This release date was announced when Sony first revealed the project in 2022 and was confirmed in the latest trailer.
The talented director Neill Blomkamp is leading the project. He is best known for his work in sci-fi films like District 9, Elysium, and Chappie. The racing movie will be a departure from his usual productions, focusing on real actors driving real cars on actual race tracks at incredible speeds, as Blomkamp mentioned.

The official synopsis reads: “Based on a true story, the film is the ultimate wish fulfillment tale of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional race car driver.”
