Cannes Film Festival 2023 India


The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has announced that four Indian films will be shown at the festival this year. The Directors’ Fortnight section will feature “Agra” by Kanu Behl and “Kennedy” by Anurag Kashyap and will be shown during Midnight Screenings. Also included in the Festival de Cannes are the screenings of “Nehemiah” in the La Cinef section and “Ishanhou,” a restored Manipuri film, in the Classics area.

Over the years, Indian cinema has had a strong presence in the Cannes Film Festival, with various festival sections showcasing critically acclaimed Indian films.

This year, the Indian Pavilion will focus on the topic of Showcasing India’s Creative Economy, and the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, is responsible for the design. The Saraswati Yantra, an abstract representation of the goddess Saraswati who represents learning, music, art, speech, and wisdom, served as the design model for the pavilion.

Cannes 2023 Celebrities

With a number of entertainment industry stars in attendance, India will have a strong presence on the Cannes red carpet. Along with actors Sonny Leon, Esha Gupta and Kangabam Tomba, Oscar winner Guneet Monga, and Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, L Murugan, Manushi Chhillar, a former Miss World and actor, will appear. Shannon K, the singer Kumar Sanu’s daughter, will also be there.

L’Oréal Paris brand ambassador Anushka Sharma will walk the red carpet for the first time at the Cannes Women in Film Festival. Sara Ali Khan will also make her Cannes debut on the red carpet, and Andrea Kevichusa, who made her Bollywood breakthrough in “Anek,” co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana, will represent Nagaland at Cannes 2023.
They will be joined by seasoned director Kivini Shohe. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, a frequent visitor to Cannes, and Aditi Rao Hydari will also be in attendance.
This year at Cannes, influencer and content creator Dolly Singh will make her debut.
Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap is also anticipated to attend the festival.
His movie “Kennedy” has been selected for the Midnight Screenings portion of the Festival de Cannes; Kashyap is allegedly joined by the lead actor Rahul Bhatt for the occasion.
