Watch the first sneak peek of the film “Thanksgiving,” directed by Eli Roth and starring Addison Rae. Eli Roth’s fake movie trailer for Thanksgiving initially made as a joke 16 years ago, has now been turned into an actual movie. This happened when Quentin Tarantino’s movies were being released, and fake teaser trailers were shown in between them.

In 2007, a movie called Grindhouse was released, which included two parts: Death Proof by Quentin Tarantino and Planet Terror by Robert Rodriguez. In between these parts, there were five joke trailers for fake movies: Machete, Werewolf Women of the SS, Don’t, Hobo with a Shotgun, and Thanksgiving, directed by various filmmakers.
Machete and Hobo with a Shotgun later became real movies in 2010. However, it took Eli Roth 13 more years to turn Thanksgiving into a full-length film. The first trailer for the movie has now been released, and it’s set to come out on November 17th, just before Thanksgiving.
The trailer, like the original joke trailer, doesn’t reveal much about the story, except that it involves a killer wearing a pilgrim hat brutally murdering young people during Thanksgiving. The official synopsis from Sony Pictures suggests it might have themes related to Black Friday and consumer culture.
Eli Roth co-wrote the script for Thanksgiving with Jeff Rendell. The full-length movie stars Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, and others, with narration by Rick Hoffman. This marks Roth’s first fiction feature since 2018 when he released both a poorly received Death Wish remake and a well-received family comedy called The House with a Clock in Its Walls.
Roth’s career has had its ups and downs since his breakout film Cabin Fever in 2002. He’s been involved in various roles in the film industry, including producing, appearing on film shows, and occasionally acting. While it’s hard to judge the movie based on the trailer, Thanksgiving seems to bring Roth back to the kind of horror themes that made him famous. Hopefully, he has put as much effort into the entire film as someone did in making the turkey look delicious in the trailer.
The anticipation for Thanksgiving is high, considering the cult following that the original joke trailer gained over the years. Fans of Eli Roth and horror enthusiasts are eager to see what Thanksgiving has in store for them. The film’s release date is just before Thanksgiving itself adds to the excitement, as it aligns perfectly with the holiday theme.
With Patrick Dempsey attached to the project, it will be interesting to see him in a horror film, as he has mainly been known for his roles in romantic comedies and the medical drama Grey’s Anatomy. Addison Rae and Milo Manheim, both known for their work in the entertainment industry, bring their own star power to the cast.
The narration by Rick Hoffman in the trailer sets an eerie tone and leaves audiences wanting to know more about the plot and the motives of the killer. Will Thanksgiving explore deeper societal issues surrounding consumer culture, as suggested by the official synopsis? Or will it primarily focus on delivering brutal and thrilling horror sequences?
Eli Roth has proven his ability to create tension and suspense in his previous works, and fans hope that Thanksgiving will showcase his unique style once again. After the mixed reception of his previous films, many are curious to see if this return to the genre that made him famous will be a triumphant comeback for the director.
As the release date approaches, horror enthusiasts and film lovers alike are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to witness Thanksgiving unfold on the big screen. The trailer has left them with a sense of intrigue and a desire for more, building anticipation for what could potentially be a memorable addition to the horror genre.
Only time will tell if Thanksgiving lives up to the expectations set by its impressive trailer and talented cast. Until then, fans will continue to speculate and eagerly await the film’s release, hoping that it delivers the same deliciously dark and twisted experience that the original fake trailer promised over a decade ago.
