The series is co-directed by Hansal Mehta and Tushar Hiranandani and is based on the life of Abdul Kalim Telgi. The teaser starts by reminding viewers of the country’s ‘biggest financial scam’ and shows glimpses from the hit 2020 series Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story. It then introduces the viewers to the scam of 2003, when there was a scarcity of zeroes in the ‘country of mathematicians.’ The voiceover reveals that it was a scam of Rs 30,000 crore, and shots of piles of stamp papers appear on the screen.
Although it is already known that the series will focus on Abdul Karim Telgi’s story, the makers have not revealed the face of the lead character yet. They have only hinted at his thoughts, as he says in the teaser, “I have no desire to earn money because money is not earned, it is made” and “If you want to progress in life, you must dare, darling.”
Scam 2003 – The Telgi Story is directed by Tushar Hiranandani and is adapted from the Hindi book Reporter ki Diary, written by journalist Sanjay Singh, who exposed the scam at that time.
