A vintage brass key-shaped return tag for the Shaw Livery Company of Chicago. The Shaw Livery Company was a prominent transportation service in Chicago, operating a fleet of yellow cabs during the early 20th century. These tags were attached to key rings so that if lost, the finder could drop them in any mail box to be returned to the company headquarters via a guaranteed postage service. The Wabash 5100 exchange was a well-known phone number for the company during the 1920s and 30s.Excellent condition with original dark oxidation in the recessed lettering providing high contrast. Minimal surface wear and no bending.
