This wall-mounted model features a dark, rich-toned polished wooden case, exuding the classic craftsmanship of its era. The main body of the telephone is a rectangular box with a hinged front door, revealing the internal wiring and components, including a large coil and various mechanical parts. The front door secures with a small brass latch. The aural receiver, a separate earpiece with a braided fabric cord, hangs on a hook on the left side of the unit, a standard feature for this type of phone. At the top of the wooden backboard, a circular metal dial is set into the wood, marked with a series of numbered indicators (1-9 and 0). A central, ornate metal pointer with a finial-like handle allows the user to select the desired number. This type of selector mechanism is characteristic of manual telephone exchanges where the user would dial a number to alert a central operator. Below the main box, a large, prominent brass bell is mounted, serving as the ringer. A small metal clapper can be seen positioned next to it. The entire piece is attached to a shaped wooden backplate, designed for wall mounting. This telephone is in very good condition for its age, showcasing slight signals of wear and tear. Bell has some movement. The brass components have developed a natural patina, adding to its authentic vintage appeal. This piece represents a significant and beautiful artifact of early telecommunications history, perfect for a collector of vintage electronics, historical items, or as a unique decorative object.
