It is a waxy, crystalline substance, clear or white in color, which is solid at room temperature and melts slightly above. The main form of menthol occurring in nature is (-)-menthol, which is assigned the (1R,2S,5R) configuration. It is widely used to relieve minor throat irritation. Menthol also acts as a weak kappa Opioid receptor agonist. Common Uses: Using in spas - place some crystals in a bowl in a steam room, or place a few crystals in an oil warmer with a small amount of oil. Beekeeping - Menthol Crystals will help in the elimination of mites in beehives. Arts & Crafts - use for lotions and creams! Mixes well with: Basil, eucalyptus, geranium, grapefruit, juniper, lavender, lemon, myrrh, pine, rosemary, spearmint, tea tree, and wintergreen. Safety Information: Avoid if pregnant or breast feeding. Do not use on babies or small children. Do not use around pets, as it can be toxic in higher doses.
