The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP26, is the 26th United Nations Climate Change conference. It is being held in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom, between 31 October and 12 November 2021, under the presidency of Alok Sharma. Now Days there are a lot of people speaking about COP26 and there are also celebrities and Actress too. Emma Watson and other Celebrities also talk about this. Check down here complete.
Emma Watson ” I say this with no exaggeration, there is no doubt in my mind that we witnessed a piece of history at @cop26uk in Glasgow. I would feel honoured to be in the presence of just one of these women individually (they are all actual superstars who are quite literally making the world a better place) – but to be with them altogether – was almost overwhelming. I felt a bit like I was in the presence of the female Avengers assembling before The Battle of Earth!
However, as I have spent time with them over the last few weeks, I’ve realised they are also just ordinary women committed to taking extraordinary steps, for the better… So in these next few posts, I will introduce them by giving you the extraordinary and the ordinary, because it’s important you know that they consider everyone that cares about this issue – one of them and I have seen that in real time. They really believe it’s not individuals like us that can change things – it is small, synchronized actions and changes we make together en masse that can change the world. ♥️”
Dominique Palmer ” pure joy with these incredible women, the happiest moments this week speaking about climate justice on stage with them, clips of the panel at the New York times hub (ft Malala too) to come soon. such strength and power, I feel so seen and heard, as a black woman on stage speaking about what climate justice means to me and about my family who are facing the impacts of the crisis today.
what a beautiful moment and felt honoured to speak alongside them. we out here making history.
This is where my hope comes from-us. Genuinely love
this group and our dynamic and those I’ve become
closer to lately. community is so important. All the good vibes 🌸☺️
climate strike today in glasgow during #COP26 ! we were 30k!!! The power of the people is truly monumental! We are unstoppable another world is possible. We demand climate justice, end to fossil fuels subsidies, to #fightfor1point5 and we stand in solidarity with voices on the frontlines, most affected people and areas, including indigenous communities who have been protecting 80% of our biodiversity, indigenous rights must be respected, and colonial extraction must end. We see through the greenwash, and how leaders continue business as usual and prioritising profit over people and planet. enough is enough, no more empty promises.
So beautiful to stand and unite with my wonderful pals and everyone who showed out today 🌟
So yes, another world IS possible, but we have to be brave enough to imagine it. we have the solutions, knowledge, and resources, now is time, we must rise up. We are strong, we are many, and we CAN do this, I know we will. Solidarity ✊🏾❤️ #ClimateStrike #UprootTheSystem #FridaysForFuture #NoNewOilAndGas
Mya-Rose Craig ” I’ve just arrived in Glasgow for @cop26uk and, honestly, am not sure how to feel about being here. So far the conference and been disappointing and at times downright enraging, but I still think it’s incredibly important to keep up our fight and maintain the pressure on world leaders.
What is incredibly frustrating is how much potential there is for climate action, but how often the leaders in the Global North have wasted chance after chance to change the course of our futures, and to save lives in the Global South. This is a crucial moment in human history and as we approach the absolute tipping point for our planet, there is no more time: no more time for talking, no more time for lies, greed or selfishness. This is the time for humanity, caring, survival and action. We need to see see a demonstration of a clear commitment to halt climate change.
Sometimes people talk about climate change being the great equaliser. This is nonsense. The wealthy and privileged will be able to buy their way out of the impacts of climate change. Those without wealth, those in the Global South, those suffering already can not buy themselves out of flooding, homelessness and poverty.
However, it is outside COP where things are exciting. It’s not the politics itself but the demonstration of people power. So many have poured into the city to make their voices heard and to remind world leaders that we are watching. I am here amongst amazing activists from around the world, fighting for our futures. We will not be silenced. We will be heard.
It was such an honour to speak alongside these amazing women yesterday (some of the most exciting voices in the environmental space!). The differing life experiences of everyone involved created a truly intersectional conversation. The discussions were brilliant – spanning from the ableism within the environmental movement to the long lasting legacies of colonialism.
We came together to speak for the silenced majority in the global south, for indigenous peoples, and for the disempowered everywhere to let world leaders know the time for change is now.”
Tori Tsui ”
I began to realize how important emergent strategy, strategy for building complex patterns and systems of change through relatively small interactions, is to me—the potential scale of transformation that could come from movements intentionally practicing this adaptive, relational way of being, on our own and with others. “
The small acts of love & kindness are the ones that motivate me to keep on going.
COP26 isn’t about politicians in suits, nor big fancy venues with lackadaisical greenwashing tropes nor empty, hollow words.
These past few days have been about the people. Calling for true justice and for coming to each other’s aid in times of need.
Yesterday was a rollercoaster of a day. My @uniteforclimateaction family was unwavering in their support when I needed them most. At the end of the day @devon_497 & @el_kenjiro bought me a yellow rose. I love you both, thank you for seeing my humanity ❣️
To @aliciaamancio who will forever be my inspiration. Your courage is something all of us can learn from and I am so proud to call you my friend.
To the friends who have messaged words of support and sending wee gestures like cups of tea and coffee, I am forever indebted.
There is so so much labour of love that goes on behind the scenes to ease the pain that so many of us carry. There is so much work of those who are healers and mediators and sensitive souls that rarely gets appreciated in the spotlight.
To my friends who have been there through these difficult days, thank you ♥️ To the people who have cheered me on despite the weight of everything, thank you. To people who have been fierce in calling out the racism I’ve faced, I am eternally grateful. Thank you ❣️
Daphne ” There a genuinely no words to describe how it felt to be on this panel. These women are beyond extraordinary, their spirits beautiful and energy infectious.
I could do one hundred panels with them and it still wouldn’t be enough. The wisdom they shared on stage will stay with me forever
I love this work, but it has been an exhausting fight to be genuinely seen and heard. Disabled people are here and we ARE at the frontlines of the climate crisis. Thank you @emmawatson. Ems you are a beacon of light and made us feel so safe. Thank you endlessly . To look to my left and see incredible diversity was so profound. It can be done. This is what panels should look like.”
