Very large lot of correspondence, financial records, and other papers associated with Major James Drake of Pittsfield, New Hampshire and his extended family. The lot includes around 50 items, the earliest dated around 1805, and the latest from the 1840s. Most of the items are correspondence addressed to Major Drake, or financial records he kept. There is also a substantial number of letters and other documents related to his business affairs, as well as some family papers.Major James Drake (1755-1834) served in the Revolutionary War and was an early settler of Pittsfield, New Hampshire. This collection may also include papers of his son, Colonel James Drake (1805-1870). Some of the later papers in the collection are addressed to David Drake or Nathaniel S. Drake Esq.
